The Mud Volcanoes are based on some gas pockets which, together with soil and ground water, bubble to the surface and spill over like actual volcanoes.
Instead of lava, the mud volcanoes spill a cold petrol-grey substance made of minerals.
Paclelor plateau resembles the surface of the moon. That and the cold volcanic content make Berca a one of a kind sight.
Magura sculpture camp
There are approximately 200 limestone works of art executed in this outdoor museum.
The works of art were executed during the communist era in Magura camp by famous Romanian sculptors bringing homage to the tradition of rock carving, specific to that part of Buzau County, namely Magura.
This is the largest park of its kind in Romania and one of the largest ones in Europe.
