Situated in the souther side of Romania, 70 km away from Bulgaria, Bucharest has all the characteristics of Temperate- continental climate. Romanian weather is divided into four distinct seasons: winter, spring, summer and autumn, each of them bearing specific features.There are some exceptions, there
were years with freezing temperatures during winters (-20deg.C) and heating summers (temperatures over 35 deg. C). Bucharest is a sunny city, there are over 2,000 hours of sunshine ove the year.
Weather in Bucharest during winters
Winters in Bucharest are mild to cold, usually mild cold temperatures and low snow level December to February. Still, as during January 2015 were recorded -20 degrees C, we advice tourists travelling to Bucharest to bring warm sweaters. Wind speeds are usually moderate.
Last years, snow volume was smaller and temperatures unusual high (6-10 deg. C December 2015 was also a dry season).

Springs are usually moderate in temperature, still moderate, random, rains are to be considered. Rainfalls 1.5 cm to 2,78 across March to April. The number of rainy days/ month is around 6 (rain level greater than 0,1 mm).
Summer weather in Bucharest
Summers in Bucharest can be extremely hot, during previous years there were temperatures reaching 35 deg. C, the maximum average temperature is 28,5 deg. C. Heavy short summer rains might randomly occur.
In spite of temperatures, summers are the best time to visit Bucharest.
In case you travel to Bucharest June-August our advice is to always bring light -cotton (white/ pale colours) cloths and sun hats.
Autumn weather in Bucharest
During autumns in Bucharest, tourists can enjoy mild and nice temperatures (around 20 deg C in
September falling to 10 deg C in November). Random light rains might fall at the beginning of the season, becoming heavier in November.
Light winds blow randomly, increasing in intensity during November.
As piece of advice for tourist travelling to Romania during fall: don’t forget you umbrella and your wind-proof jacket!
